Introducing wine tasting and life in the authentic provence :
Activities about and around wine during the daytime, or in the evening in luxurious 4* hotels or friendly hotels de charme : professional 'oenologues' or 'sommeliers' guide beginners or keen amateurs through the art of wine tasting, a programme enlivened by a variety of cultural or sporting activities. Bacchus himself would appreciate the chance to study varietals, the challenge of tasting blind, learning how to match food and wine, discovering New World wines - and ponder the conundrum : do women have more sensitive taste buds than men ?
Just one idea for a day of wine and food
Starting off with a lesson in preparing Provencal cuisine, followed by an hour's tasting while the meal simmers away before settling down to enjoy the feast with specially selected wines accompanying each course. After lunch, a visit to a producer who will unveil his terroir and range of wines.
Groups of a minimum of 20 participants, starting from190 euros TTC per person, to include cookery lesson, lunch, tasting session and visit to a domaine.
How about combining wine and sport ?
Start the day with 4 hours in the open air on one of the region's loveliest golf courses, followed by lunch at the club house. Then, an afternoon learning basic wine tasting techniques in one of the magnificent Coteaux d'Aix vineyards.
Groups of a minimum of 15 people from 170 euros TTC per person, to include green fees, lunch, tasting and visit of the property.
A day of wine and culture:
Spend the morning following in Cézanne's footsteps before visiting his
studio. Lunch in one of his favourite restaurants. During the afternoon a professional
oenologue will guide you through the art of tasting and unveil the mysteries
of transforming grapes into wine at a renowned domaine.
