A typical Provençal village: grown up around
the ancient feudal castle built on arock in the
7th century. Fine view from the Belvedere: to
the east, the Regagnas, Olympe and Auréliens
mountains, the Cengle Plateau and the Sainte-Victoire range; to the south, the Garlaban, the
Etoile range and Baou de Bretagne.
These sites
have been inhabited since earliest times and
testify to the Gallo-Roman civilisation, settlements
dating from the 7th century BC, the
Barbarian invasions of the 7th century AD, when
the village was probably founded.
Culture: Adolphe Thiers, Joseph Autran, André
Roussin, Frantz Litzand Alexandre Dumas were
born or lived in Bouc-Bel-Air.
