In the summer of 1977, Carolyn Carlson was the first to star in the new Dance Festival, delighting audiences in the Parc Jourdan. Outstanding dance companies have followed, with varied styles, demonstrating their research in contemporary dance. The Dance Festival of Aix has experienced growing success. Twenty years later, "Dance in Aix" also takes place throughout the year with a varied choreographic program. Cinema and dance evenings, public rehearsals, courses and meetings alternate with representations held by confirmed stars and flashes of the projector on artists to be discovered... Enough to guide the enlightened or curious amateur spectator to a new light..

Preljocaj Ballet

Hosted in Cité du Livre whilst waiting to become settled in the future National Choreographic Centre, the Preljocaj Ballet gathers 24 dancers around Angelin Preljocaj, considered by many as one of the best contemporary French choreographs. In addition to its international rounds, all year round, the ballet offers public rehearsals and creations in Aix.
