Nestling like a jewel in its verdant casket, this town was built as a principality by Louis XIV. Nicknamed the "little Aixois Versailles", Lambesc was the political capital of Provence, and the General Assembly of Communities were held here from 1639 to 1787.
Numerous mansions bear witness to this age of glory.
The tour of Lambesc includes the 1759 washhouse, the church listed as a historical monument and its splendid retables with works by renowned painters of the 17th century, the famous belfry with its Jacquemard clock as well as the museum which is real record of the history of this town where Mme de Sevigné stayed. Lambesc also boasts all the facilities of a lively town, including a large sports complex, an auditorium, a cinema and a wide variety of activities proposed by over 50 associations, as well as picturesque events such as the festivals of St Eldrad, St Janvier and St Jean.
Choose between self-catering accommodation, bed and breakfast, campsites and hotels, and you will find restaurants and various shops at every corner of the typically Provençal streets..
