As you tour the villages and castles of the Luberon, you will come to the imposing ruins of the Tour d’Aigues castle, then the Loumarin castle, before reaching Apt, the centre of crystallised fruits. Roussillon and its ochre quarries,Gordes, the "bories" villages (small beehive-shaped stone huts), and the magic Abbey of Sénanque. After this you will reach Îsle sur Sorgue, the largest centre for antiques in south-eastern France. From here it is only a short distance to Avignon, a city whose history is indelibly marked by the presence of the popes in the XVIth century. Visit the ramparts dating back to medieval times, the Palace of the Popes, and the Pont d'Avignon bridge made famous by the song.
