Cultural center or place

Cité du Livre lies in a former Aix-en-Provence match factory that shut down in 1972 and is your go-to for culture, leisure, information and education.

The two buildings, large and small matches, of this renovated industrial site cover almost 14,500m2 and make up the Cité du Livre with the Bibliothèque Méjanes (Aix's municipal library) and associations.

The main aim is to support and promote books, reading, cinema and all forms of culture.

Municipal library (public reading and heritage resources, Albert Camus Centre, Lyrical Art and Dance Video Library, local annexes, media bus).

Event spaces: La Verrière amphitheatre (meetings and shows), Galerie Zola (exhibitions), Armand Lunel room (screenings and meetings), auditorium (meetings).

Partners: Institut de l'Image, Ecritures Croisées, Cobiac, Agence régionale du livre, département Information Communication de l'IUT, Fondation Saint-John Perse and the Centre d'oralité de la langue d'oc (COLOC).
