This was the first church built by the architect Laurent Vallon, followed by the Saint-Esprit, Prêcheurs and Saint-Jean-Baptiste-du-Faubourg churches. He positioned it at the end of Rue Félicien David.
The high frontage was to be decorated in Baroque style, but was never completed.
In 1973 the site was listed as a historical monument and was renamed "Jesuits' Convent".
The chapel occasionally hosts cultural events.
