In the big hall of the Tourist Office at Lieu 9, the Natural History Museum is organising the "Origin of the Collections" exhibition. The museums' role is to exhibit specimens and preserve collections. But where do the specimens come from? How are the collections brought together? Through donations, purchases and collecting, there are many different ways for specimens to arrive in the museum. The "Origin of the Collections" exhibition is a chance to see the most iconic and original specimens in the Aix-en-Provence Museum, since each piece has its own history. From shells brought back from the South Seas to fossils picked up in the hills, this is a journey through time and an encounter with famous explorers or more humble donors who have each helped to develop the Museum's reputation.
