Cimetière Saint-Pierre

Saint-Pierre cemetery is situated just a short walk from Aix-en-Provence town centre. It has 2 annexes: Carré 9 is located on Traverse Saint-Pierre and Carré 10 on Avenue des Déportés de la Résistance Aixoise.

This necropolis was created in 1824 through the acquisition of private lands adjoining two existing cemeteries: the Jewish cemetery and the Protestant cemetery. Saint-Pierre cemetery, which extends over seven hectares, has given its name to the district in which it is located.

An interactive terminal has been installed inside the cemetery to enable visitors to find the grave of a relative by typing in the name on the terminal. A map of the cemetery is located at the entrance. The main war memorials can be found in Saint-Pierre cemetery, as well as the memorial for police officers killed in the line of duty, the national monument dedicated to the memory of French and Overseas Repatriates and the Harki memorial. Aix's priests are buried in this cemetery.

Electric buggies are available for elderly people or people with reduced mobility and the cemetery is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Many famous people are buried in Saint Pierre cemetery, a map can be obtained from the warden's office at the entrance to the cemetery.
