Gardens of the Bastide de Romégas

The current flowerbed was designed in 1884 in front of the new bastide façade.
From 1960, new plantations, such as cedars, accompanied a vigorous restoration and the property became a main residence around 1980.
The archetype of an Aix house of the mid-17th century: plain frontage, hipped roof, tile overhang, adjoining farm, threshing floor. 18th-century French gardens with traditional boxwood border, shaded by ancient pine trees, leading to a hunting hedgerow typical of the period.

In addition, a chapel, ponds, wash-house, fountain, viburnum maze. View of Sainte Victoire mountain. All beautifully preserved and maintained. House built in 1660 by the Romégas family, members of the Aix nobility.

Purchased in the 18th century by the ancestors of the present owners, who include the historian, academician and ambassador François Mignet.

The gardens are open to visitors between 1 May and 31 october by appointment.
