Granet Museum

750 works from the Renaissance to contemporary art, unique Cézanne collections and the prestigious Meyer donation. International exhibitions, multilingual guided tours and family workshops. A must-see regional museum!
Inaugurated in 1838, the Musée Granet, recognised as a "Musée de France," is an institution of the city of Aix-en-Provence. It offers a tour spanning over 4,000 m², with a focus on its collection of paintings and sculptures. Nearly 750 works are on display, providing a sweeping panorama of artistic creation from the Primitives and the Renaissance through to the masterpieces of modern and contemporary art in the exceptional Meyer donation. Its seventy-one works create a dialogue between the masters of the past (Guardi, Chardin, Boudin) admired by Cézanne, and the great figures of modern and contemporary art (Giacometti, Picasso, Léger, de Staël, Tal Coat…).

Enriched Cézanne Collections
In 2025, following the exhibition Cézanne at the Jas de Bouffan, the museum's Cézanne collections were enriched with remarkable new gifts and loans. Alongside the View of the Jas de Bouffan from the Meyer collection, two rooms are now dedicated to the Master of Aix. These rooms highlight the stylistic evolution of Paul Cézanne, illustrated in particular by Waterfall, a recent gift from Marc and Edouard Larock, Bathers in Front of Mont Sainte-Victoire, on deposit from the D.G. Cazeau collection, and Mont Sainte-Victoire, on loan from the Kunstmuseum in Bern, Switzerland.

The Musée Granet regularly hosts exhibitions of international scope. It also develops a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, outreach activities, and educational and cultural events.

Guided tours for groups and individual adults are offered in the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions in French, English, German and Spanish. Audio guides are available for hire in several languages (French, English, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese).

Activities for children and families are offered throughout the year (guided tours and workshops). A collection activity booklet is available free of charge at the museum's reception desk upon request.

The Musée Granet holds the Tourisme et Handicap label (for auditory, motor and cognitive disabilities); wheelchair-accessible entry is located at 18 rue Roux-Alphéran.
