Ballet Preljocaj - Centre Chorégraphique National

The Ballet Preljocaj is a contemporary dance company founded over 30 years ago by the world-renowned french choreographer Angelin Preljocaj.
Today, it consists of 24 permanent dancers and gives over 100 performances a year in France and abroad. Since founding his company, Angelin Preljocaj has created 50 choreographies.

His creations are included in the repertoires of numerous companies, from which he also receives commissions, such as La Scala in Milan, New York City Ballet, Berlin State Opera and Paris Opera Ballet.

In addition to performing its pieces around the world, Ballet Preljocaj is stepping up its outreach activities at the Pavillon Noir in Aix-en-Provence and throughout the region in order to introduce dance to as many people as possible.

In October 2006, the Ballet Preljocaj moved into its new premises designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti: the Pavillon Noir is the first production centre built specifically for the activity it houses. In its theatre and four studios, dance performances and events are offered throughout the year, both by Angelin Preljocaj and guest companies.

Since 2015, Ballet Preljocaj has sought to promote the professional integration of young dancers graduating from conservatories and national schools.
Ballet Preljocaj Junior aims to facilitate the integration of young artists into professional life and offer them in-depth technical mastery. This group of six apprentice dancers joins the company for a period of one year. They tour in Angelin Preljocaj's shows, perform pieces from the repertoire and present their own performances as part of special events.
