Bastide du Jas de Bouffan

Historical monuments, the Jas de Bouffan mansion and its park are open to you for guided tours to discover what the homestead was for the painter: a place to live, an anchor, a place for his early work and a painting studio.
The Bastide is closed for refurbishment.

For lovers of Cezanne in France and around the world, as well as for the residents of Aix and Provence, the Jas de Bouffan estate, never before opened to the general public, is a fascinating attraction, a place which retains an aura of mystique despite its direct links with so many of the painter's celebrated works.

The XVIII century mansion belonged to Cezanne's family between 1859 and 1899.

At the age of 20, Paul Cezanne started out painting on the walls of the living room and outside in the park. A guided visit all around will let you see the different points of view taken by Cezanne himself while painting. As in the oval living room, a virtual recollection of his works can be seen.
