La Fontaine Obscure

La Fontaine Obscure is an associative photographic space that showcases photo exhibitions for connoisseurs, the curious, admirers, enthusiasts and image collectors!
"For 40 years, the La Fontaine Obscure association has brought together amateurs and professionals alike to promote photographers' work to a wider audience, and to raise awareness among cultural operators and promoters of this tool for communication and artistic expression.
The name 'Fontaine Obscure' was borrowed from a historical novel by Raymond Jean, an author from Aix-en-Provence and literature professor at the Université de Provence:
'Fontaine' (Fountain): a source of light and inspiration (the inner light), a metaphor for transmission, communication, and movement, and the notion of passing time.
'Obscure' (Dark): this evokes the classic camera obscura, but also the darkness of the darkroom required to reveal the image, as well as photography as an obscure object of desire."
"La Fontaine Obscure offers a program featuring regular exhibitions, lecture-debates on certain Saturday mornings, and training workshops during afternoons throughout the school year. In collaboration with the City of Aix-en-Provence, it has also been organizing the PHOTAIX Photography Festival for 25 years."
