For 138 years, Studio Henry Ely – a true institution run by four generations of enthusiasts – has been capturing life in Aix-en-Provence. This guided tour invites you to explore its remarkable archives and to rediscover, through images, the major musical events that have brought the city to life: from the popular dances of the 1930s to the major festivals, from the Festival d’Art Lyrique to the piano festivals, via jazz, pop, Classrock and street music.

Through an immersive exhibition, let yourself be transported by over 200 black-and-white photographs from the Henry Ely-Aix collection, a timeline tracing 200 years of photographic history, a collection of over 50 vintage cameras, and a faithful reconstruction of the late 19th-century Henry Ely studio, enhanced by an AI-animated portrait. A unique tour to relive the emotions, faces and moments that make up the collective memory of Aix-en-Provence.
