7 reasons to stay

1. The markets

In the squares in Aix itself and in the heart of the villages in the surrounding region, each with its own look and seasonal colours, but all with the same friendly atmosphere – a feast for the senses, a patchwork of stalls and a festival of conversations.

Three times a week, you can enjoy the special atmosphere of the big market in the centre of Aix-en-Provence (fruit, vegetables, flowers, clothing, second-hand stalls, etc.). For local produce, there is one every morning on Richelme Square and if you fancy a night market, why not go to the Nuitées d’Aix markets in July and August?

And of course the Christmas markets in Aix and its surrounding villages will add that special touch of magic to your stay in December.

2. The food

Great Provencal dishes, delicious local produce, gourmet bistros, regional specialities, Southern and Mediterranean flavours as well as those from far-off countries, top quality fine dining…every type of cuisine from around the world can be found in a multitude of restaurants.

In fine food stores and confectioners’ shops you can find calissons, chocolates, aniseed-flavoured drinks, candied fruit and many other delicacies to take away and try.
