Toulouse-Lautrec
Créateur d’icônes
Toulouse-Lautrec: Icon maker
Caumont – Centre d’Art
24 April to 4 October 2026 – Pre-sale now open
Caumont Centre d’Art dedicates its summer exhibition to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, a towering figure of the Parisian avant-garde. Through nearly a hundred works — paintings, lithographs and iconic posters — the entire dazzling world of fin-de-siècle Montmartre is brought to life before your eyes.
The exhibition reveals the genius of an artist who, better than anyone, knew how to transform his contemporaries into eternal icons: La Goulue, Jane Avril, Aristide Bruant… figures he elevated to the status of symbols of an era. From cabaret scenes and intimate portraits to groundbreaking posters, we discover a profoundly human gaze — tender and unflinching — cast upon Parisian life in all its diversity.
Brought to life through a spectacular immersive scenography and works on loan from major institutions such as the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée Carnavalet, this exhibition is a rare opportunity to understand why Toulouse-Lautrec’s art continues, more than a century after his death, to captivate us so completely.
